Dorien completed her medical degree in Belgium in 1998 before moving to Norway, where she has been working as a GP since 2010. Alongside general practice, she also spent a year working in child and adolescent mental health in 2017.

She has a strong interest in women’s and children’s health, as well as mental health, and enjoys performing minor surgical procedures. For Dorien, being a GP is about building skills across a wide range of medical areas while supporting patients through different stages of their lives. She feels it’s a privilege to get to know her patients’ stories and be part of their healthcare journey.

A true people person, Dorien values connection and takes pride in helping patients navigate their health challenges with care and understanding.

Outside of work, Dorien loves spending time with her family, walking her dog, gardening, reading, and enjoying music - especially going to live concerts.

For me, being a GP is about supporting people through every stage of life. It’s a real privilege to hear their stories and be part of their healthcare journey
