Wendy McPhillips is currently undertaking the role of nurse practitioner intern, furthering her expertise and skills in advanced nursing.

She initially worked in the pharmaceutical field before deciding to pursue a career as a registered nurse in 2015. Wendy graduated in 2018 and went on to complete her Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences in 2021. Over the past two years, she has been dedicatedly serving as a designated nurse prescriber in primary healthcare.

Wendy has an interest in chronic care management and women's health, considering them among her favorite areas of focus. She finds immense satisfaction in the educational aspect and health promotion involved in addressing the complexities of chronic care. Additionally, Wendy recognises that women's health is an underserved area and regularly engages in conversations about perimenopause and menopause with her patients.

Outside of her professional life, Wendy treasures spending time with friends and whānau. Going on bushwalks, traveling, and surrounding herself with the beauty of nature, particularly in locations with trees, waterfalls, oceans, and lighthouses.

Currently fluent in English, Wendy plans to expand her language skills by undertaking a Te Reo course once she completes her nurse practitioner year.

I love the education and health promotion that is involved in health complexity within chronic care, women's health is an underserved area and I have a conversation with women about perimenopause and menopause almost daily.
