Dr. Heather Powell

Heather completed her medical training in London before going on to earn a postgraduate qualification in Tropical Medicine. She initially trained in emergency medicine in both London and Auckland, later moving to New Zealand to complete dual Fellowships in Rural Hospital Medicine and General Practice.

Her career has taken her across the globe - from setting up health projects in Central America and East Africa to providing urgent and acute care here in Aotearoa. Heather loves the variety of general practice and the opportunity it offers to meet people from all walks of life. For her, understanding a patient’s family, lifestyle, and wider context is key to providing truly holistic care.

Outside of work, Heather enjoys travelling, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places with her young daughter and family.

I value getting to know my patients and their families, understanding their story helps me provide care that fits their lives.
