A care team that knows you

At Tend, you're cared for by more than just doctors. Every clinic has a full care team.

This includes NZ-registered doctors (GPs), nurse practitioners (NPs), nurses, pharmacists, health coaches and health improvement practitioners. They all have access to your notes so whoever you see, knows your story.

Many of our clinicians also have special interest areas like skin health, women's health, children's health and diabetes, so you can choose someone who knows your concern well.

Reviews

What our patients say

"I’ve been a Tend customer since the beginning and absolutely love the care and the convenience. The quality of service is amazing. This is healthcare reimagined"
Sarah
Tend Kingsland
"I needed to talk to someone but didn't know where to start. I didn't have the money for a therapist and getting seen elsewhere was going to take weeks. A friend pointed me to a free mental health service through Tend. There was no wait time, I could get seen straight away. The whole process was straightforward and easy. I can't believe it's FREE!"
Danika
Tend Kingsland
"So easy to use the app. Professional and understanding doctor. So grateful to have this way of an appointment with a busy life, in the comfort of your own home without sitting long hours at the 24 hour surgery. Highly recommend."
Julie
Tend Kingsland
"Absolutely amazing. Wish I had known about this service sooner. I was able to get the help my daughter needed very quickly and she is much more comfortable now. Being able to access care outside of normal business hours and also being able to keep her comfortable at home while she fights off this virus."
Kerstyn
Tend Online Now 24/7
"So easy and convenient. I’ve always struggled with making time to see the doctor, but with them literally in my pocket there’s no excuse. So glad this exists."
Connor
Tend Symonds Street
“Tend is amazing and super easy to use, I can book online appointments if there are no walk in times available, I can also request immunisation forms directly from my phone. Easy and convenient for a mum of 4.”
Shandyce
Tend Pakūranga
"Very convenient service. I love how automated and streamlined everything is. I used to hate going to the doctor's office as I would be in the waiting room for 2 hours, even with an appointment. Tend has proven that it doesn't need to be so difficult and inefficient. Much appreciated."
Conor

"The Tend app is BY FAR the best experience I've ever had in the medical space. It's seamless, and I feel so well taken care of. Having things like blood results stored there, nurses to message, appointment booking super easy, it's such a breeze! Never going back!!"

Casual services

Don’t want to switch GPs?

You do not have to enrol to use Tend. From anywhere in New Zealand, you can see a doctor online 24/7, request a same-day medical certificate or book a free online mental health appointment. Try us out, no enrolment needed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to enrol with Tend?
No, you do not need to be enrolled with Tend to use some of our services. We welcome casual patients nationwide.

If you do enrol, you will enjoy cheaper fees, access to more medical services, app features and other benefits.

Why enrol with a GP in New Zealand?
Enrolling with a GP means having a healthcare team that knows you and your health history. You'll have a regular medical clinic to call your own, making it easier to get personalised, continuous care when you need it.

As an enrolled patient, you'll also pay lower appointment fees because the government helps fund your healthcare. Children under-14 get free GP visits.

Enrolling is free and only takes a few minutes through the Tend app or website. You only pay once you’ve had an appointment.

You can still see a doctor without enrolling, but you'll pay higher casual fees and may miss out on some funded health services and programmes.
Can I visit other Tend clinics besides the one I’m enrolled at?
Yes. While you can only enrol with one Tend clinic, enrolled patients can book appointments at other Tend clinics in their region.

Some exclusions may apply; availability and fees may vary. You’ll see which clinics are available when you book. Your health records are shared across Tend, so whichever clinic you visit, your care team can access your medical history.
Am I eligible to enrol?
You must be living permanently in New Zealand to be entitled to enrol with a primary healthcare provider. The definition of living permanently in New Zealand is that you intend to be a resident in New Zealand for at least 183 days in the next 12 months.

You will be entitled to enrol if you are a:

- New Zealand citizen and living permanently in New Zealand (this includes people from the Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau)

- Resident visa holder of a resident visa or permanent resident visa

- Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident AND able to show you have been in New Zealand or intend to stay in New Zealand for at least 2 consecutive years

- Work visa/permit holder and legally able to be in New Zealand for at least 2 years

- Interim visa holder who was eligible immediately before the interim visa started

- Refugee or protected person

See the full list of enrolment criteria here.
How are my health records transferred?
If you decide to enrol with Tend, we will transfer your health records from your existing GP. You don't have to do anything except give your consent when enrolling in the Tend app or website.

Records transfer is a secure electronic process overseen by the Ministry of Health. It is your right to give any GP access to your health records.

We recommend consenting the transfer of your records as this gives our clinicians full access to your previous medical history, allowing for a more consistent and thorough healthcare experience and ensuring we can provide you with the best care possible.

Should you decide to enrol with a different GP, we will happily transfer your records to them as requested.
Does my enrolment expire?
Yes. If you haven't seen your GP or visited us in over three years, your enrolment will expire, and you’ll lose access to the lower enrolled patient fees.

How to keep your enrolment active:

- Book a routine health check or an appointment for any health concern.

- Schedule an annual health check in the Tend app. Many people find it helpful to book around their birthday as a yearly health WOF.

- We will send you email reminders if your enrolment is about to expire.

- If you don’t need an appointment but want to stay enrolled, let our Customer Experience Team know by messaging us in the app or by contacting your local clinic.
Can I enrol family members?
Yes you can add children under-18 to your account, if you're their parent or guardian.

Young people aged 16-17 have the option to manage their own healthcare. They can create their own Tend account and enrol themselves without needing to wait until they are 18.

You cannot enrol or book appointments for adults over 18 years, including your partner. Adults must create their own Tend account to enrol or book appointments.
How much does it cost to enrol with Tend?
Enrolment is free. You only pay when you've had an appointment. As a Tend patient, you pay lower consultation fees than casual patients. Children under 14 pay nothing for GP visits.
Can I see a GP online without visiting a clinic?
Yes. You can see the next available GP 24/7 through the Tend app or website from anywhere in New Zealand with an internet connection. These appointments are 10-minutes long.

You can also book 15-minute online GP appointments at a time and day that suits you through the Tend app. Enrolled patients have access to more appointment availability than casual patients.
What happens to my enrolment if I move to a different city in New Zealand?
If you move to a city where Tend has a clinic (Auckland, Tauranga, Christchurch or Ashburton), you can transfer your enrolment to your new local Tend clinic. Just message our Customer Experience team in the app or contact your clinic, and we’ll help arrange the transfer for you.

If you move to a location without a Tend clinic, you can transfer your enrolment to a local GP practice of your choice. You’ll still be able to use Tend’s casual services from anywhere in New Zealand.
