Dr Johanna originally trained as an electrical and electronic engineer, but a summer spent working with a paediatrics research group inspired her to pursue medicine. She completed her medical training at the University of Southampton in the UK and returned to Canterbury in 2013.

She has a particular interest in youth and children’s health, sexual health, and older people health and enjoys supporting people in their communities to live well. Johanna values continuity of care, building trust with patients and their whānau and embracing new technologies to improve access and diversify care.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, cycle touring, and keeping busy with her two sons through activities like managing basketball teams and running a coding club.

I enjoy offering continuity of care and building trust with people and their whānau.
