Michaela is a Health Improvement Practitioner working online with Tend. She has a background in addiction and general counselling, life coaching, and the homelessness sector, where she advocated for equity, respect, and dignity for whānau. Michaela is trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and AOD models, and brings a trauma-informed, person-centred focus to her work.

She is especially passionate about values-based interventions, supporting people to reconnect with their core values as the foundation for living authentically and managing challenges in meaningful ways. Michaela believes in equipping people with practical tools, breaking down stigma around mental health, and helping clients thrive with confidence and purpose.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, travelling, singing, TED talks, and beach walks. She also loves cake decorating, relaxing with her partner, and spending time with their large staffy who's convinced she's a lapdog.

I believe many people feel stuck and unfulfilled because they’re chasing lives that were never truly theirs - shaped by social expectations, and not their own core values. My mission is to help as many people as I can break free from that pattern, reconnect with what truly lights them up, and face mental health challenges head-on - with zero shame (the way it should be) and real, actionable tools.
