Paula is a pharmacist prescriber with over 25 years of practice in hospital (in both New Zealand and the UK) and primary care settings.

Her special interests include managing long-term conditions such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, asthma, COPD, and gout, as well as reducing cardiovascular risk. Having worked seven years in Older Persons and Rehabilitation wards at Waikato Hospital, Paula is particularly focused on ensuring safe transitions of care between hospital and home or aged care settings.

Paula values optimising medicines, reducing treatment burden, and supporting patient understanding and adherence. She enjoys building trusting, holistic, patient-centred relationships with patients and their families, helping to simplify healthcare and empower positive lifestyle changes.

Outside of work, Paula enjoys spending time with her family and friends as a busy wife and mother of three teenagers.

I enjoy making connections with both patients and colleagues and working as part of a team to improve health outcomes for patients. I like being able to take some of the fear out of the healthcare journey by simplifying concepts and taking time to understand what motivates patients to make changes and improvements to their quality of life.
