Ranen’s interest in medicine began with a childhood injury and a positive experience with the specialists who cared for him. That experience left a lasting impression and inspired him to pursue medicine. After moving to New Zealand, he attended King’s College before completing his tertiary studies at the University of Auckland.

His clinical interests span sports and musculoskeletal medicine, diabetes and lifestyle medicine, mental health, men’s health, occupational medicine and chronic disease management. Ranen enjoys the variety of general practice and the opportunity to work with patients to understand their health concerns, find practical solutions and support their health through education and prevention.

Outside of medicine, Ranen enjoys DIY projects and supporting local community sports and martial arts clubs.

“I enjoy working with patients to solve health problems together, while also looking at practical ways to support their health and prevent future issues.”
