As a registered nurse and Health Improvement Practitioner, Ria (Ngāti Porou, Rongowhakaata) brings a strong commitment to whānau-centred care, shaped by more than 30 years of experience supporting tamariki and their families.

She is passionate about making sure no one is left behind and takes a holistic approach, drawing on Māori models of mental health that view people as part of a wider collective. Ria values helping people recognise their own potential and loves seeing the difference small, brave steps can make in someone’s life.

In her spare time Ria enjoys cooking, gardening, travelling, exploring indigenous cultures, and spending time with her whānau. She also has a passion for van life, tiny homes, house renovations, learning about different cultural foods, festivals and dance.

I'm very passionate about ensuring that no one gets left behind, with prevention education early intervention life doesn't have to be such a struggle. Humans exist with so much untapped potential so I love to support people to empower themselves and reach their fullest potential.

Children's health covers everything related to keeping kids physically and mentally well, from birth to adolescence, including regular check-ups, vaccinations, and addressing common childhood issues.
