Wendy is an online GP at Tend with a strong background in urgent care, having trained and working mainly in South Auckland. She completed a PhD in Surgery in 2014 focused on acute appendicitis in children and is currently an Honorary Lecturer in Clinical Education at the University of Auckland.

Her clinical interests include paediatrics and clinical education. As a mother, Wendy approaches child healthcare from both a doctor’s and a parent’s perspective, valuing collaboration with parents, caregivers, and whānau. She finds clinical education stimulating and enjoys teaching and supervising future clinicians.

Wendy values building relationships with patients, empowering them to take an active role in their health, and particularly enjoys working with children and their families.

In her spare time, she enjoys exploring playgrounds and parks with her family, visiting museums and zoos, beach combing, cooking, reading and travelling.

Being a mum, I understand the challenges of this important role. I try to approach the care of children not only from a doctor's perspective but also that of a parent. I enjoy working with parents/caregivers and wider whānau and find tremendous satisfaction when everyone is engaged. I find clinical education stimulating and thought-provoking, always inspiring me to do better.
