Enrolled patients
Enrolment is currently available to residents in Auckland, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury. An enrolled patient is someone who has chosen Tend as their primary care provider.
Appointments for repeat prescriptions, often called medication reviews, are a standard practice in healthcare to ensure your safety and the effectiveness of your treatment. It's a key part of responsible prescribing.
Your clinician needs to confirm that the medication is still the right treatment for you. Several factors can change over time, making a review essential such as:
Changes in your health
Your overall health can change, or you might develop new conditions. A medication that was safe a year ago could now interact negatively with a new health issue or a different medication you're taking.
Dosage and effectiveness
The required dosage might change over time as your body adapts to the medication or if your condition evolves.
Monitoring side effects
All medications carry a risk of side effects. A medication review allows your doctor to check for any new or worsening side effects you might be experiencing.
Preventing misuse and overuse
For certain medications (especially controlled substances) a review helps prevent misuse, overuse or dependency.
Depending on your circumstances and the medication, you may need a 15-minute in-person or online appointment with a Tend doctor before we can issue a new prescription. Please note that Online Now 24/7 is not suitable for repeat prescription reviews.
