There are a few common reasons why a repeat prescription request may be declined:
- You already have repeats waiting at the pharmacy
Check with your pharmacy first. Sometimes your repeats are still there and ready to collect. You will need to collect this first.
- You’ve requested it too early
Prescriptions can only be renewed within a certain time frame. If you request too soon, it may be declined until it’s due.
- A medication review is needed
For safety and best practice, your clinician may need to review your medication before issuing another prescription. In some cases, they may require you to come in for an in-clinic appointment rather than an online consultation. Please note that Online Now 24/7 is not suitable for repeat prescription reviews.
- You need a lab test first
Some medications require regular blood tests or other checks to ensure they’re still safe and effective for you. Your clinician may hold off on the prescription until your test results are received.
